What is joseph castro?

Joseph Castro is an American educator and administrator who currently serves as the Chancellor of the California State University (CSU) system. He was born in Hanford, California in 1966 and earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to complete his master's and doctoral degrees in higher education policy and leadership at Stanford University.

Castro began his career in higher education as a professor and educational administrator at several universities, including the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the University of California, San Francisco. He later served as President of California State University, Fresno from 2013 to 2020 before being appointed Chancellor of the CSU system in 2020.

As Chancellor, Castro oversees the largest four-year public university system in the United States, with 23 campuses serving over 480,000 students. He is known for his commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, as well as his focus on student success and affordability.
